Eufaula’s Jaci Nixon - Athlete Spotlight Presented By Bank of Eufaula

Parents can have a big influence on the lives of young athletes. Not only do they drive them to practice and buy the gear that they need, they are also usually the athletes biggest cheerleader. They sit through rain, snow, and wind to watch their athlete compete and travel who knows how many miles.
Eufaula’s Jaci Nixon says that she is blessed to have her parents as her role models. “The biggest influences in my life would have to be my parents,” she said. “My dad, Robert Nixon, has coached golf since before I was born, and I have been very fortunate to have had him and Coach Bumgarner as my coaches. I was always comforted by the fact that both of my parents were at my tournaments cheering me on, even when it was pouring down rain.”
Jaci is a senior, playing golf and fastpitch softball for the Lady Ironheads. She says that she has played both sports since she was little, but started playing them competitively in middle school.
While she has put in many hours of work and preparation, Nixon says that there is one reason for the success that she has enjoyed. “I would not be successful in my sports without God,” she said. “I give him the glory for everything. My firm foundation in Him has gotten me to where I am today. Colossians 3:23 is why I am successful.”
Nixon says that she has enjoyed a lot of good moments during her career, but there are a few moments that have stood out as her favorite. “There are a couple of highlight moments during my high school career,” she said. “First would be becoming a regional medalist my junior year and the other is being a three-time state qualifier. Adding the All-State selection is really special.”
Along with her sports, Nixon is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, and the Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society. After graduation, she plans to attend Northeastern State University and pursue a degree in either Secondary Education or Biology.
