Vian’s Caelie Ellis - Senior 2020 Spotlight
Caelie Ellis moved from Norman to Vian when she was in the first grade. Caelie loves the life of living in a small town near Lake Tenkiller and all that goes along with it. She started gymnastics and tumbling as a young child and that developed into a love for cheer. Not only does she cheer for her high school, she also does All Star competitive cheer.
“I just love competing in cheer,” said Caelie. “I like pushing myself and love having a challenge. I like all the bonding with my teammates. With All Star cheer, you get a new team every year, so you get to make a bunch of new friendships.”
Much more than a cheerleader, Caelie is the only athlete at her school to be on four different sports rosters for three straight years. She also runs track, plays slowpitch and fastpitch softball, and is in FFA. On the track, Ellis competes in the 100m and 300m hurdles and joins her teammates in the mile relay. With Ellis academic efforts, the Wolverines claimed four OSSAA Academic State Championships with fastpitch earning the 2017 and 2018 crowns and cheer teams winning the “smart titles” in 2018 and 2019.
“Athletics have taught me a great sense of dedication and determination. It’s taught me how to push myself and how to become a better leader and an active role model in my community,” says Caelie confidently. “The younger girls look up to me and that’s something that has been really important in my life. Everyone is so passionate and everyone supports each other in Vian. I just love it here!”
Ranked third in her class, Caelie holds a 3.94 GPA. She is also concurrently enrolled at Carl Albert State and by the end of summer will have completed 17 college hours. She plans to attend OU for nursing this fall and is trying out for their cheer team.
