Vian Wrestlers Prepare for Championships - Presented by Vian Family Dental Clinic
Wolverine wrestlers continue to train in preparations for the upcoming OSSAA state championships. The Vian squad this season includes a quartet of seniors with proven experience including Cruz Partain (195lbs.) who claimed the Class 3A bronze medal a year ago, Dil’n Murchison (220 lbs.) a state qualifier in 2020, Christian Sheilke (120lbs) and Braylen Rodgers (113lbs.) a state runner-up as a sophomore. Both Sheilke and Rodgers missed the championships in 2020 due to season-ending injuries. The foursome are ranked among the top Oklahoma wrestlers in their weight division in Class 3A.
Underclassmen wearing the purple and gold include sophomore Conner Flynn (126) and junior Joseph Krauter (145lbs). In competition at the Maverick Conference tournament, Partain, Murchison, Rodgers and Flynn captured the gold medal while Sheilke claimed the silver medal.
The Wolverine girl wrestlers were part of making history as sophomore Taya Hunt (137lb) and Avery Richey (107lbs) qualified for the OSSAA girls championship tournament. Hunt finished in fourth place last year.
