Preston High School’s Samantha Wegley has enjoyed her senior season as the team’s starting third baseman.

Wegley considers her teammates more than just a few peers she plays softball with.

“What I love most about my teammates is they are more than a team, they are a family,” said Wegley.

But the start of the season was in doubt this summer. The uncertainty was real, but as the season approached and practice got underway, Wegley and her teammates were ready to take the field.

“I am pretty excited and sad at the same time. We lost some pretty great girls, so it was going to be different, but once we got back everything was normal again,” said Wegley.

And getting back to normal is exactly what Wegley and her teammates did.

Wegley said her life on and off the field has been influenced by many people, including her family and all of her coaches. Wegley plans to finish out her senior year and graduate in 2021. Her future plans include attending college where she will knock out the basics before settling on a major.

When Wegley is not on the field playing ball, you can find her helping her grandmother. Congratulations to Samantha Wegley and the rest of the Preston softball team.
