GIRLS

Coach: Kruz Lynch

2019-20 Record: 7-18

Confidence and mindset. Those are the two things that new Porter girls coach Cruz Lynch is trying to drive into his troops as they prepare for the 2020 season. “This team has a chance to be a lot better than they think they are. If they can find confidence in themselves, they will give themselves a good chance of being in a lot of ball games this season. We talk about this continuously in our practice.” Forward Charmayne Marshall (5-10, Jr.), the latest in the line of Marshall girls to make an impact in Porter athletics, is a good example “She is the most athletic girl on the floor and if she goes into games with the right mindset, she will give herself a chance to be the most dominant player on the floor,” said Lynch. The Lady Pirates return some talent to build on like Marshall. Point guard Brittany Welch (5-6, Jr.) has a deadly jumper from 15 feet on in according to Lynch. Power forward Brooklyn Spencer (5-8, Sr.) is the senior leader that makes sure the team is what it takes to be successful. Lynch says she’s like having an assistant coach on the floor. Raylee Allison (5-6, So.) started as a freshman last year and can nail it from beyond the arc. And Teara Hollis (5-0, Sr.) is a tenacious defender who can also hit from three-point land. SOMETHING TO WATCH - Porter also hopes to get help from Aaeronya Moore (5-8, Jr.) who did not play last year but should be a help in the middle. Cruz says that Charmayne Marshall could be a 20 point, 10 rebound a game player who could go to the next level if she brings the right mindset.
